About Vaastu Shastra
Vaastu Shastra is India's traditional science of architecture. Its texts — the Mayamata, the Manasara and others — describe how to orient a building and arrange its rooms so that they work with sunlight, wind and the natural rhythm of the day. The ideas behind them are practical: morning light from the east, a cool and solid south-west, a kitchen where the fire is safe and bright, and a clean, quiet corner for prayer.
Our guides explain the traditional recommendations room by room and how families apply them in modern flats and in homes abroad, including the southern hemisphere. Different schools and consultants do not always agree, so we note where views differ. Vaastu is guidance for a calm, healthy home — not something to be afraid of.
