About MyPujaWorld
MyPujaWorld is a place to discover Hindu festivals, puja celebrations, temples and traditions near you — wherever you live, in India or abroad.
Why we built MyPujaWorld
Every year, families who have moved away from their home towns ask the same questions: Where is the nearest Chhath ghat? Which pandal near us has pushpanjali on Ashtami? What time is Saanjh Arghya in our city this year? Is there a pandit who speaks our language for a Griha Pravesh? The answers are usually scattered across WhatsApp forwards and word of mouth. MyPujaWorld brings them together in one place — and keeps them up to date with the help of the organisers and communities who run the celebrations.
What you can do on MyPujaWorld
- Find celebrations near you — community pujas, ghats and pandals on a map, with timings, programmes, directions and organiser updates.
- Get exact timings — city-wise festival timings, a daily panchang, Ekadashi, Pradosh, Purnima and Amavasya dates, and muhurat dates for life events.
- Understand and prepare — festival guides, puja vidhis, samagri lists, aarti and chalisa with meanings, prasad recipes and dress guides.
- Pass traditions on — simple festival stories and activities for children growing up in India and around the world.
- Find temples, communities and services — temple pages, community associations, pandits, samagri shops and other festival services.
- Take part — list your celebration for free, review events, share photos and stories, ask and answer questions, volunteer, and be recognised as a MyPujaWorld Star.
How we create and check content
- Dates and timings — festival dates, tithis, nakshatras, sunrise and sunset are calculated astronomically (Lahiri ayanamsa) and checked against published panchangs. Where calendars differ, we say so.
- Muhurat — our muhurat dates are calculated from the panchang using commonly followed rules, and are labelled as general guidance. Families should confirm the final muhurat with their own pandit.
- Festival, temple and city information — written by our editorial team from published sources such as encyclopaedias, temple and government websites, which we link on each page. Darshan timings are shown only after a temple or our team has confirmed them.
- Devotional texts — traditional, public-domain aartis, chalisas and mantras, with transliteration and meaning written for readers who don't read Hindi or Sanskrit.
- Events and listings — reviewed by our team before they appear. Listings collected from public sources are marked as community listings until the organiser confirms them; temples, communities and businesses can claim their listing after verification.
- Images — our own, contributed by users who confirm they have the rights, or openly licensed images credited on the page.
Corrections
Traditions differ from region to region and family to family, and we will sometimes get things wrong. If you spot a mistake, use "Report this listing" on any event, or write to hello@mypujaworld.com with the page link. We review every correction and update pages promptly.
