Puja Samagri Lists

Everything you need for each festival's puja — with Hindi names, why each item is used, and where to find it abroad.

How to use these lists

Each list gives the item's Hindi and English name, why it is used in the puja, and a tip for finding it if you live outside India. Print the list or share it on WhatsApp with family members who are helping with the shopping, and tick items off as you buy them.

Buy dry items — roli, akshat, incense, camphor, cotton wicks and ghee — a week or two ahead, when shops are less crowded. Buy fresh items such as flowers, leaves, fruits and sugarcane a day or two before the puja so they stay fresh. If your pandit is bringing some items, check with them first so nothing is bought twice.

Living abroad?

Indian grocery stores stock most everyday puja items, especially in the weeks before big festivals. For harder-to-find things — bamboo soop for Chhath, kusha grass, or the nabapatrika for Durga Puja — ask your local temple or community association: they often order in bulk for everyone. You can also find samagri shops and temples near you on MyPujaWorld.

Looking for the complete ritual? Each festival guide explains the puja step by step, and our puja service pages include vidhi and samagri for occasions such as Griha Pravesh, Satyanarayan Puja and Namkaran.
