About Shiv Durga Temple of Bay Area
The Shiv Durga Temple of Bay Area is a Hindu temple in Santa Clara, California, dedicated principally to Goddess Durga. It also has shrines to Ganesha, Sai Baba, the Shiva linga and Radha Krishna, and serves North Indian and other Hindu families across the South Bay. The temple says it welcomes around 100,000 visitors a year.
Beyond daily worship, the temple runs weekly aarti and kirtan, a community kitchen that serves meals to devotees, Hindi classes for children and yoga sessions. Its festival calendar follows the North Indian tradition: Maha Shivaratri, Ram Navami, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi and Diwali are the highlights, with Navratri nights devoted to the Goddess.
Because the temple has moved more than once, check the current address before you travel, and look at the temple's own announcements for festival puja times.
History
The temple was inaugurated on 2 December 2012 by Pandit Krishna Kumar Pandey. As attendance grew it moved to Sunnyvale in late 2015, and in June 2021 it moved again to its present home on Flora Vista Avenue in Santa Clara.
